Seconds Please! FAQs

Sounds great... but how does it work? It's simple - donations are sent to our postal address by contributors, and then redistributed by Seconds Please! to pregnant women, as well as new mothers, fathers and/or families, that have already contacted us and who want to participate in the Seconds Please! Clothing Exchange Program.

This program is not a charity, but rather an exchange program where children receive clothing and educational materials, and in turn, their representative (i.e. parent, guardian, etc...) donates other materials for the exchange program to continue. Concurrently, these representatives will remain in contact with Seconds Please!, and help others down the road, creating a support network for our Folk.

There are already plenty of charities that help kids... why should I be bothered with yours? Conventional "charities" are very minority oriented, most often helping inner-city blacks & Latinos, or a multitude of other races in third world countries. Please read our goals & ideals in order to get a better understanding of our motivations.

Why should I care? What difference could I make? Our children are the future of our Folk, and it is imperative that we support and help our brothers and sisters as they become new parents, as well as families in need. Raising a child is emotionally and financially demanding, every kind word, every helping hand, and every gift will be remembered and appreciated.

What can be donated? Almost Anything! Clothing, toys, diapers, bottles, accessories, and furniture for children (preferably in good shape). We can also use, but are not limited to, gift certificates, toiletries, and stamps. Please see our how to help section for more information on donating to the program.

I don’t have any children, or children’s items to donate, how can I help? Seconds Please also accepts CDs, Books (mainstream or movement), Flight Jackets/Bombers, shows, boots, etc... with the intent that these items will be sold to create funds for the Seconds Please! Program. This option is perfect for those who are childless, or who may have little money to spare. Now, everyone is able to donate to the Seconds Please! program and assist the children of our Folk.
