Sarmatian Szlachta
The country of Poland has a unique and noble cultural heritage.
This is amply evidenced by the phenomenon of Sarmatism, which
was the defining lifestyle and worldview of the szlachta,
Poland’s noble class, from the 16th century through
the 19th century. Sarmatism was based on the belief among
the szlachta that they had descended from the ancient Sarmatians,
the equestrians of the steppes.
