Created to help the children of our Folk
learn about other places, Sigrdrifa’s Postcard Swap
also helps create bonds of friendship between children around
the world. Although proven an asset in the home school “classroom”
as well as entertaining for the children involved, Sigrdrifa
felt this project needed a boost to help those involved receive
the most of it.
Here is an outline of the Postcard Swap and what it is:
I. The Postcard Swap –
For children in kindergarten through 12th grade it is a program
to help children learn about other parts of the world and
a way for them to educate others about where they live as
well as a way for our children to get to know each other.
II. How to get involved
– Download and fill out the questionnaire
on this website. Mail it to: Sigrdrifa’s Postcard Swap,
PMB #319, 800 NE Tenney Rd., Suite 110, Vancouver, WA 98685.
Please fill out one questionnaire per child. You can also
email your answers to postcardswap@sigrdrifa.net.
III. The Introduction Packet –
Once we receive your questionnaires we will send your child(ren)
a Postcard Swap Introduction Packet. The packet includes The
Postcard Swap Directory, sample postcards to get you started,
permission slip, and information about the latest competition.
IV. Future Projects within the Postcard
Swap – The Postcard Swap is a part of Siggy
Kids! Siggy Kids has its own website and its own section of
Sigrdrifa Magazine. In each issue of the magazine we will
include various information just for Postcard Swap participants.
This includes any updates and/or changes within the Postcard
Swap, competitions, announcements of competition winners,
geographical information about places around the world, pictures
to color, etc… All of this and more will also be available
on the Siggy Kids website.
V. Birthdays and Holidays –
Every year on your child’s birthday they will receive
a birthday card with a surprise from Sigrdrifa Publications.
Throughout the year they will also receive holiday postcards
promoting heritage-based holidays such as Tartan Day, Leif
Eriksson Day, and German American Day.
VI. How much does it cost? –
Sigrdrifa’s Postcard Swap is a free service that is
operated by donations only.
VII. How Can I Help? –
There are many ways you can help the Postcard Swap even if
you aren’t involved in the program, or have any children.
What we need are postage, postcards for our introduction packets,
artwork for original postcards produced by Sigrdrifa Publications,
and of course monetary donations are always appreciated as
they assist us with our printing costs.
